Key Instructional Components

The Elements program employs a curriculum that is specifically designed to respond to gifted learners' characteristics of precocity, intensity and complexity. In combination with accelerated Bloomington Public Schools' units of study and units of study from the College of William and Mary's Integrated Curriculum Model (ICM), all students meet and exceed State and local standards. For more information about the ICM click here.

Key instructional components include...

  • acceleration of basic content experiences,
  • inquiry as a fundamental tool for encouraging learning,
  • use of open-ended activities and questions that encourage further exploration,
  • development of creative products to stimulate use of higher level thinking and problem-solving processes, and
  • extensions to pique interest around substantive content.
