Youth Center (Galaxy)

Galaxy Youth Centers provide  Bloomington youth in grades 6-8 a safe and fun place to be with friends after school. Galaxy provides youth

opportunities for involvement in recreational and enrichment programming.

While at Galaxy youth may participate in clubs such as Youth Power, Culture Club, I Care Club, Dance, Knitting and Cooking Clubs. During unstructured time youth can hang out together in the lounge, watch movies, play video games or pool, or do homework in the computer lab.

Galaxy staff are people who are dedicated to working with youth and understand youth issues. Staff work hard to provide youth with new and challenging experiences. They receive ongoing training to ensure Galaxy is a safe, fun and welcoming environment for all youth.

Galaxy is a joint program between Bloomington Public Schools and the City of Bloomington

Galaxy Youth Programming Framework:

The Galaxy Youth Programming focus is to implement programming that will:

     • Strengthen community awareness in youth and youth issues
     • Promote positive social, cultural, and educational development
     • Celebrate diversity
     • Develop resiliency in young people
     • Create a safe and welcoming environment
     • Increase the developmental assets in youth

Galaxy Youth programs will be framed around Developmental and Enrichment programming.
