Oak Grove Elementary 5th graders brought home two first place victories at the Math Masters competition held in Inver Grove Heights on April 20.

Subham Maiti won first place as an individual, and Maiti, Khalid Abdi, Elias Nader, Aaron Rivera and Reuben Trachtenberg came in first place as a team.

Twenty school districts participated in the event, which led students through at least seven rounds of math problems. They used what they learned in class to solve problems involving mathematical areas like logical reasoning, geometry, measurements, time, decimals, percent, fractions, statistics and probability.
