Curriculum Guides

Bloomington Public Schools provides a standards-based curriculum to fully prepare all students to be successful lifelong learners. View the curriculum guide for each grade level below.

Elementary Success Videos

Bloomington Kindergarten teachers created a set of learning videos in order to meet the needs of our youngest learners. Each video highlights letters, sounds, numbers, or words that we want children to know by the end of their kindergarten experience.

View the clips on our Elementary Success YouTube playlist and repeat the chants together for a fun and interactive learning experience.

Standards based grading and reporting

Bloomington Public Schools is committed to providing families with information about the specific learning goals within the curriculum at each grade level. With standards-based grading and reporting, parents receive information about their child’s individual strengths, progress toward mastering end-of-year grade level goals, and areas where additional development and support might be needed.

Reading well by third grade

Reading well by third grade is one of many developmental milestones in a child’s educational experience. Reading well by grade three ensures that a student has a solid foundation of literacy skills to continue to expand their understandings of what they read, make meaning, and transfer that learning across all subject areas. Bloomington Public Schools develops an annual Local Literacy Plan, which outlines the district’s continuous improvement efforts to advance student learning, increase the number of students reading proficiently at grade level, close racial and socioeconomic achievement gaps, and ensure all students are career and college ready.
