Elements Placement Criteria
Data Required for Application
Every applicant must have a minimum of three pieces of data for consideration into the gifted programs.
1. Ability Measure (CogAT, IQ, OLSAT, etc)2. Achievement Measure (MAP, NWEA, ITBS, etc.)
3. Teacher Recommendation Form
Tiered Placement
Tier 1: Highly qualified Bloomington students
Tier 2: Highly qualified out-of-district students
Tier 3: Qualified Bloomington students
Tier 4: Qualified out-of-district students
Each applicant's data will be entered into a profile form. Points will be awarded based on the strength of the data. For example, test scores that fall in Tiers 1 & 2 will earn more points than test scores that fall in Tiers 3 & 4. Placements will be made based on greatest need as indicated by profiles with the highest scores.
Highly Qualified Students
Qualifying scores for Tiers 1 and 2
- Achievement Measure 95% or greater on Reading
- Achievement Measure 95% or greater on Math
- Ability Measure 95% on at least two of the subtests (CogAT: verbal/Quantitative/Nonverbal, IQ: Verbal/Perceptual Reasoning)
- Ability Measure 95% on composite
- Highest teacher rating
Qualified Students
Qualifying scores for tiers 3 and 4
- Achievement Measure 90%-94% on Reading
- Achievement Measure 90%-94% or greater on Math
- Ability Measure 90%-94% on at least two of the subtests (CogAT: verbal/Quantitative/Nonverbal, IQ: Verbal/Perceptual Reasoning)
- Ability Measure 90%-94% on composite
- High teacher rating
