Bloomington Offers Archery Course for Kids
Kids in Grades 4-8 have a unique opportunity to hone their skills and participate in a recreational setting. A five-week archery course, offered through a partnership between Bloomington Community Education and the City of Bloomington Parks & Recreation, is designed to introduce the fundamentals of archery and prepare participants for a friendly 10-yard competition.
The course, aligned with the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP), will cover essential aspects of archery, including:
- Safety protocols: Ensuring a safe learning environment
- Proper shooting techniques: Mastering the art of drawing, aiming, and releasing
- Scoring methods: Understanding the NASP scoring system
- Competition preparation: Developing the skills and mindset for success
The course culminates in a 10-yard competition, where participants will apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world setting. This competitive experience will not only test their abilities but also foster a sense of accomplishment and sportsmanship.
Two sessions are available. Session I is Jan. 7-Feb. 4 and Session II is Feb. 18-Mar. 18. Both are 4:30-6 p.m. and are held at the Kennedy Activity Center.
