The Realistic Foodie: Food Waste Reduction

Published on Jan 06, 2021

This online class Saturday, Jan. 16, from 9 a.m. - Noon, will cover the importance of reducing food waste and apply these skills while we get creative in the kitchen and create delicious dishes. We will use imperfect food that would otherwise go to waste or end up in a landfill. We will also learn about composting from a master composter!

We encourage you to participate in the cooking part of the class by using food from Ruby's Pantry. Ruby's Pantry partners with food manufacturers, distributors and producers to gather their surplus, overages, and "ugly food" -- food that is great to eat but may have slight blemishes. Our class instructor will purchase the food from Ruby's Pantry and divide it up for class use.  You pick up the food from our instructor and follow along with the cooking demonstration in the class.

Don't want to cook? No problem! Take the class and enjoy the cooking demonstration. You will get great tips and recipes!

A supply list will be sent out prior to the class. Some food items are not provided in the food pick up from the instructor and will need to come from your kitchen.

A fee of $7 will be collected by the instructor at the time of food pick up.
