Afternoon Community Education programs cancelled
Due to a water main break near the Bloomington Community Education Campus, water has been shut off in the building indefinitely. As a result, the following programs are cancelled for the afternoon:
  • Community Education and Metro South programs
  • Bloomington Career and College Academy (BCCA)
  • Bloomington Transition Center (BTC)
Career and College Academy students will remain at their home school. Students attending BTC will be transported home, and their parents have been notified.

Food Services

Bloomington Public Schools' food service program is a leader in serving nutritious meals, with each school serving breakfast and lunch daily. Every day, our kitchens prepare and serve more than 2,000 breakfasts and 7,000 lunches to students and staff in all of our schools.

Free and Reduced-Price Meals

Families may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals. An application for educational benefits must be completed each year to apply for free or reduced-price meals. Applications are available at all schools, the district food service office or online starting in July 2018. Approval is for complete meals only, breakfast and lunch (which includes milk). This does not include milk with a lunch from home. The price for milk is 50 cents. Milk may be purchased on a student's account.

Menus are handed out monthly for grades K-8. They are posted in all schools, available through B-Link Cable network, the district's Food Service Office and on this website.

A menu analysis of nutrients provided monthly is printed on each month's menu. Nutrients often exceed the USDA requirements and the calories from fat are limited. Our menus are reviewed monthly by a registered dietitian.

Breakfast plays an important role in providing children the fuel they need to learn. Breakfast, from either home or school, has been shown to have a positive effect on student performance. School breakfast is served 20 to 30 minutes before school starts. Those who qualify for free or reduced price lunch also qualify for free breakfast.
