Community invited to Early Learning at Washburn open house
ECSE teacher Brityn Galyon sets up her new classroom at Early Learning at Washburn.
Bloomington Public Schools’ youngest learners and their families will begin a new chapter this fall at Early Learning at Washburn, formerly Washburn Elementary School. The new location brings early childhood programs, previously housed at Pond and Southwood Centers and several elementary schools, together under one roof.
An open house will be held August 21, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at 8401 Xerxes Ave. S. Families and the community will be able to tour the building, meet teachers and staff, learn about programs, and receive registration help. The family-friendly event will include interactive and engaging activities for kids.
Early Learning at Washburn serves children from birth through age 5. The four-star Parent Aware-rated program encompasses all the same early childhood family education (ECFE), preschool for three- and four-year-olds, early childhood special education (ECSE) and early childhood screening services that families have come to expect from BPS, making for a seamless transition for returning kids and families. The new location offers a modern, welcoming space designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster a love of learning. It’s a place where children can grow, explore, and prepare for the exciting journey ahead as they transition into kindergarten.
