Jefferson student earns national recognition for tech aspirations

Jefferson High School senior Jenny Wen is a National Honorable Mention recipient of the 2025 Aspirations in Computing High School Award program, presented by the National Center for Women and Information Technology.

The award recognizes U.S. high school students for their unique talents, aptitude, and aspirations in technology and computing. This year 40 national winners and 360 national honorable mentions were selected from more than 3,700 applicants.

“It’s an honor to be recognized nationally for my achievements in computer science,” Wen said. “This motivates me to continue pursuing my passions in this field, harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence to build a future where technology uplifts rather than divides.”

Wen aspires to pursue entrepreneurship in the future, building AI tools with a focus on equity and empowerment.

She and other recipients will be honored at a ceremony in the spring. Wen also gains access to internship opportunities and can apply for a trip to New York City to visit high-tech trading firm Jane Street.
