JHS MCA Exam Information

This message contains important information for the following upcoming tests:

  • 10th Grade MCA Science & MCA Reading Exam
  • 11th Grade MCA Mathematics Exam

10th GRADE MCA SCIENCE EXAM

  • Wednesday, April 7 - Friday, April 9; given in biology class during a block period.
  • Computerized test.
  • This is an untimed test. Should students not finish in the periods allotted, they will be pulled from a class in the following weeks to finish the test.

10th GRADE MCA READING EXAM

  • Wednesday, April 21; students will test from 7:50 - 10:10 a.m.
  • Students will be assigned to a classroom based on their last name; this test is not given in a scheduled class. 
  • Computerized test.
  • This is an untimed test. Should students not finish in the periods allotted, they will be pulled from a class in the following weeks to finish the test.

11th GRADE MCA MATH EXAM

  • Wednesday, April 21; students will test from 7:50 - 10:10 a.m.
  • Students will be assigned to a classroom based on their last name; this test is not given in a scheduled class.
  • Computerized test.
  • This is an untimed test. Should students not finish in the periods allotted, they will be pulled from a class in the following weeks to finish the test.

APRIL 21, SCHOOL-WIDE

  • 9th graders will have an asynchronous learning day.
  • 10th graders will take the MCA Reading Exam from 7:50 - 10:10 a.m.
    • After testing, students will return home and continue with asynchronous learning. Transportation will be available for those who need it. Buses will depart JHS at 10:30 a.m. If a student needs to stay to finish the exam, they may. However, they will need to arrange their own transportation home. If they need to leave but have not finished the exam, we will have them finish at school in the coming days.
  • 11th graders will take the MCA Math Exam from 7:50 - 10:10 a.m. 
    • After testing, students will return home and continue with asynchronous learning. Transportation will be available for those who need it. Buses will depart JHS at 10:30 a.m. If a student needs to stay to finish the exam, they may. However, they will need to arrange their own transportation home. If they need to leave but have not finished the exam, we will have them finish at school in the coming days.
  • 12th graders will have an asynchronous learning day.

Other important information

  • Students with special testing accommodations will be assigned a classroom based on their accommodations. 
  • All computerized exams will be taken on students’ school issued Chromebooks. Other devices cannot be used as the testing software is installed on BPS issued Chromebooks only. 
  • All students should arrive to testing with their Chromebooks fully charged!

Due to the concerns of COVID-19, you have the option to decline to have your child participate in testing this year. 

Regardless of the learning model for your student, please fill out this form by April 2 indicating if your child will be testing this year.
