More Than a Scoreboard: Big Accomplishments for Jags Girls Hockey

hockey players celebrating

As most of you know...last night (Feb. 11, 2026), the Jags competed in the Section 6AA Semifinal against #5 ranked Edina, and battled from start to finish. We knew we were up against a highly skilled team with six Division I commits and two Ms Hockey finalists, but our girls never backed down.

We scored first.
We scored last.
And with 11 minutes to play, we were within one.

Facing a team filled with talent, our girls met the challenge and captivated a statewide hockey audience. They battled every shift and showed they belonged in that game. They represented Jefferson the right way!

The last month tells the story of this season:

  • A rival beaten for the first time in 12 attempts.
  • A ranked opponent pushed to overtime.
  • Our first home playoff game in 11 years.
  • Our first home playoff win in 13.

Last night was another step forward for these girls, and for this program. At a time when many high school programs are built by players moving to join established powers, there is something meaningful about what this group has accomplished together. Every girl who skated for the Jags last night grew up side-by-side with her teammates, developed in the same youth system, and built this program together with the support of their community. Every win carries weight and meaning because it is earned and done with childhood friends, and every battle, win or lose, is special because it's a sisterhood.

We fell short against a very talented Edina team that earned the win. But the way this group competed until the final buzzer felt like progress you can’t measure on a scoreboard.

Proud of this team. Proud of this season.

Good luck to all the teams advancing!

Go Jags!
