Kennedy Theatre’s ‘Seussical’ receives Spotlight honors

Kennedy Theatre Company’s fall production of “Seussical” received 17 honors from Spotlight Education, a program of Hennepin Theatre Trust. 

The production received outstanding recognition in ensemble acting performance. Honorable mentions were awarded for overall performance, ensemble and dance performances, student orchestra, and run crew.

Outstanding performance honors went to Michael Johnson and Indigo Jordan in their leading roles as Horton and Cat in the Hat, respectively. Althea Forstner received an outstanding technical leadership award as a props designer. Autumn Helseth was given an honorable mention for her supporting role as Gertrude. 

Evaluator shout-out recognition was given in the categories of ensemble vocal and overall production and to individuals Hans Sonnenberg, Paige Laaksonen, Brenna Kaufman, Jolssac Erickson, and Anezka Lopusnikova.

Spotlight Education is active in more than 100 high schools throughout Minnesota and works to enhance arts curricula through production assessments, workshops and access to quality theater education.
