Bennett elected to lead School Board; new board member sworn in
Tom Bennett was elected to chair the Bloomington School Board for the 2026 term during the board’s annual organizational meeting this week. Bennett is in his 12th year on the school board. Other officers elected by their peers are Mia Olson, vice chair; Matt Dymoke clerk; and Dawn Steigauf, treasurer.
New board member Ted Moore along with re-elected incumbents Steigauf, Dymoke and Bennett were sworn into office. Moore has two children in the district and has spent considerable time volunteering in our schools.
School board members also confirmed appointments to state and regional committees:
- Olson to the Association of Metropolitan School Districts (AMSD)
- Steigauf to the Intermediate District 917 Board
- Moore to the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) and an alternate to AMSD.
The school board hosts listening sessions for public comment at 6 p.m. and study sessions at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. The regular business meeting is 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month. The third Monday of the month is reserved for a study session, regular meeting, professional development or a combination if needed. All regular meetings are broadcast on BEC-TV Channel 15, and study sessions are recorded.
The next school board business meeting is 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26.
