BPS Graduation Rates Rise, Led by Hispanic Student Gains

Bloomington Public Schools has seen significant success in improving graduation outcomes, especially in the context of a changing student population and ongoing post-pandemic recovery. Both the four and seven-year rates increased in 2025, with the seven-year accelerating above 2023 and 2024 levels, the 2025 state average, and exceeding the state in nearly all student subgroups.

Bloomington’s four-year graduation rate increased slightly from the previous year to 79.1%, the first increase since 2022. The statewide four-year rate increased to 84.9%. The seven-year rate increased by nearly three points to 90.6%, rising above the statewide average of 88.3%.

Notable improvements:

  • For the seven-year rate, students receiving special education services or who qualify for free and reduced educational benefits exceeded state averages, as well as nearly every racial and ethnic group. All BPS schools and sites increased from the prior year.
  • Hispanic/Latino students saw a 7.8 point gain in their four-year graduation rate from 2024 to 2025, and a 5.6 point increase in the seven-year rate, exceeding the state seven-year rate by nearly five points.
  • Black/African American students saw a seven point increase in their seven-year graduation rate from 2024 to 2025, nearly nine points higher than the state.
