Bloomington learning series offers support for parenting adolescents

Bloomington Public Schools is offering education and support for parents and caregivers on topics affecting youth and adolescents, to help address issues that might be a barrier to student success.

The Learning Supports Series (TLSS) grew from a one-time even to a monthly series based feedback from parents seeking more ways to learn and connect with other caregivers. The series aims to support parenting through the adolescent years, similar to programs offered through Early Childhood Family Education for younger children. A variety of topics have been covered including online safety, technology safety, eating disorders, mindful parenting, and mental health.

TLSS events are held at the BPS Educational Services Center, 1350 W 106th St., in the Boardroom from 6:30-8 p.m. Each session includes a one-hour presentation and 30 minutes of questions and answers with the speaker. Anyone who interacts with young people are encouraged to join in-person or watch the recordings afterwards. Recordings can be found at bit.ly/watch-tlss. Previous presentation slides and extra resources can be found at bit.ly/info-tlss.
