Bloomington Nordic skiers boast impressive seasons and state finishes

Jefferson senior Anders Westanmo was the state runner-up and Jefferson junior Avery Rich placed ninth at the state Nordic ski meet held Feb. 12-13 at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik.

Westanmo finished the boys pursuit race with a time of 28:49.1, earning him second place, and Rich finished the girls pursuit with a time of 34:54.4. Both skiers were awarded All-State honors.

It’s been a season full of success for Westanmo and Rich. Both were MetroWest conference champions, Westanmo won the section meet, and both were selected to represent the Midwest in the Junior National Championships ski races in Soldier Hollow, Utah.
