Summer construction projects begin soon

Several school upgrades and maintenance projects are scheduled this summer that may limit access to schools, fields and playgrounds. These include:

  • Jefferson and Kennedy outdoor track and athletic fields will close May 12 for new stadium construction. The new stadiums are expected to be ready for home games in fall 2025.

  • Washburn Elementary will close June 5 to complete interior renovations and playground updates as part of the transition to an early childhood center, opening this fall.

  • Olson Elementary and Middle School campuses will close this summer for renovation projects, including updating electrical and mechanical systems, as well as adding a new flex-space learning area at the elementary school. Olson Middle will still host its Cougar Camp for incoming 6th graders as scheduled in August.

  • The district’s largest installation of solar panels will be placed on the Oak Grove Middle School rooftop as part of an ongoing 25-year plan to add solar arrays to several schools. The district is on track to save an estimated $7 million over the course of the project.
