Bloomington DECA celebrated one of its most successful years ever, including one student placing in the top 10 in the world. DECA offers high school students opportunities to compete in simulated business scenarios focused on entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality, marketing and related fields.

Ten Jefferson and Kennedy students represented Bloomington on the world stage at the International Career Development Conference in April. Jefferson senior Jenny Wen placed sixth in the world in the Professional Selling Event category, the highest international finish for Bloomington DECA in at least 20 years.

Bloomington sent 44 students to the state DECA competition in March. Nine earned finalist honors including Jefferson senior Sam Remsbottom placing first in the Hardlines Sales Demo and Wen finishing second in the Professional Selling Event.

Bloomington DECA had one of its largest chapters ever with 84 members this year, due in part to increased participation from Kennedy High School.
