Bloomington student wins Jr. Miss Juneteenth Minnesota title
Jorden Redding and Wynter Frost
Congratulations to Oak Grove Middle School 8th grade student Wynter Frost, who was crowned Jr. Miss Juneteenth Minnesota this summer. Miss Juneteenth Minnesota is a Black-led youth leadership development program that uses mentorship, education, cultural preservation, and community service to build a pipeline of confident, resilient young leaders across the state.
Wynter placed first in the 10- to 13-year-old age division of the program's pageant. She’ll hold the title until June 2027. During her reign, she hopes to build confidence in herself and promote the pageant to other girls.
“Winning this title means so much. To be carrying this legacy is truly amazing, and I want everyone to feel the way I've been feeling these past couple of months, going to different events and meeting people, it feels amazing,” Wynter said.
Wynter participates in track and theatre. Her favorite subject is language arts and she loves to read and write.
Adding to the excitement, at this year's pageant, Wynter's older brother, Jorden Redding, a former Kennedy High School student, was crowned the program's first-ever Mr. Juneteenth Minnesota.
