BPS website sporting a fresh new look
The Bloomington Public Schools website has a fresh new look. It’s the first design refresh since the website launched in 2019. Guided by input from staff and families, the minor redesign brings a modern look along with updates to the navigation that greatly improve the mobile experience.

What's Changed?
Overall, the structure of the site remains largely the same, with some organization and menu changes to improve usability. In addition to the visual updates, here are some highlighted changes:
Desktop/Laptop Screens
- The school website navigation menus are now located at the top of each school website (fig. 1)
- Quick links now appear as a row of icons at the top of the page (fig. 2) including:
- Contact: A slide-out menu with relevant phone numbers, addresses, hours, staff directory button links, and relevant social media and Peachjar links.
- Breakfast and lunch menus
- Calendar
- BPS Login
- Enroll
- Languages: Basic district information in Spanish and Somali and an option to translate the text-based content of any page using Google Translate.
- Dropdown menus, indicated by an arrow (>), now open in a slide-out menu from the right side of the screen for a consistent experience between desktop and mobile versions of the website.

Mobile Screens
- District and school menu navigation can now be found under one menu (≡) at the top right of your mobile screen, making it easier to find.

Adding a Shortcut to Mobile Devices
A website shortcut can be added on mobile devices for quick and easy access. It will look similar to an app, appearing as the BPS star icon. There are many web browsers available, but these instructions for Apple and Android devices should apply to most browsers.

Clearing Your Cache
If some elements of the website appear to be missing or something looks off, you may need to clear your web browser’s cache. Here are instructions on how to do this on commonly used web browsers.
Add to Home Screen on iPhone
- Go to the BPS website on mobile device
- Tap the share icon
- Tap “Add to Home Screen”
- A dialog box will appear with the shortcut title. We recommend you rename the title to something short like “BPS” or “BPS Website”
- Tap “Add”
- The icon will appear on your home screen. Move the icon to wherever you’d like.
Add to Home Screen on Android
- Go to the BPS website on mobile device
- Tap the menu button - commonly a three dot (⋮) menu
- Tap “Add to Home Screen”
- A dialog box will appear with the shortcut title. We recommend you rename the title to something short like “BPS” or “BPS Website”
- Tap “Add” or “Install” (depending on the prompt the browser gives)
- The icon will appear on your home screen or in your app drawer. Move the icon to wherever you’d like.
