Jefferson, Kennedy high schools name 2025 Athena Award recipients

Jefferson’s Kylie Jones and Kennedy’s Emily Spencer are this year’s Athena Award winners. Both are three-sport athletes with numerous accolades. 

The Athena Award is presented each year to outstanding female senior athletes from high schools across the metro area. Award winners will be honored at the Minneapolis Athena Banquet on May 2.

Jones participates in tennis, hockey and lacrosse and has served as a team captain in all three. In tennis she has two MVPs, three All-Conference, one Academic All-Conference and one All-State honors; All-Conference honors in hockey; and two MVPs and All-Conference honors in lacrosse. Jones plans to pursue mechanical engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

Spencer participates in softball, hockey and volleyball. She’s been part of the varsity softball team since middle school, will be team captain this spring, and has earned five letters, two All Section, one All Conference and one team MVP awards. Spencer has earned two varsity letters each in hockey and volleyball. Spencer is exploring her post-secondary options, but plans to attend a four-year college after high school.
