Kooky, spooky and all together outstanding: Kennedy’s ‘Addams Family’ snaps up top Spotlight honors

Kennedy Theatre Company’s fall production of “The Addams Family” received 22 honors from Spotlight Education, a program of Hennepin Theatre Trust. It’s the first time in program history the school has received outstanding recognition in the three top categories of achievement in musical theatre, overall technical production and overall performance.

Indigo Gabriel earned an outstanding performance honor for their leading role as Gomez. Althea Forster-Manoli and Elliot Miller earned outstanding technical leadership recognition for their work as stage manager and in costumes/wigs/makeup. The show also received outstanding honors in ensemble vocal performance and costume crew.

Honorable mentions were awarded to Amy Le and Sam Taylor in their leading roles as Wednesday Addams and Fester; Autumn Helseth and Rose Oliver for their supporting roles as Alice and Grandmama; and Skyler Coarasa in technical leadership as a props designer. The show received honorable mention in the categories of ensemble performance, ensemble dance performance, ensemble acting performance, student orchestra, and run crew.

Evaluator shout-out recognition was given to individuals Paige Laaksonen, Gerrit Van Perusem, Andrew LeDoux, and Anezcka Lopusnokova.

Spotlight Education is active in more than 100 high schools throughout Minnesota and works to enhance the arts through production assessments, workshops and access to quality theater education.
