PBIS honors continue for Bloomington Public Schools

Bloomington Public Schools is once again receiving recognition for its continued commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

For the seventh consecutive year, Bloomington Transition Center (BTC) has been named a Sustaining Exemplar school by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). MDE also awarded the district with a PBIS Sustaining Exemplar District Award, which recognizes districts that effectively coordinate staff training, coaching, and data-based evaluation to sustain positive student behavior outcomes across the majority of their participating PBIS schools.

“When students know what’s expected of them, they’re more likely to make positive choices, which helps create schools where students feel safe, connected, and like they truly belong,” says district PBIS coordinator Heidi Agee.

BTC is a program for Bloomington students ages 18-22 who benefit from special education services after high school.

PBIS is a framework for meeting the social, emotional and behavioral needs of students, promoting positive behavior and improving student outcomes. Nine districts and more than 90 schools across the state earned this honor in 2026.

Honorees were recognized at a ceremony in August.
