School Board Meeting Recap: April 27, 2026

The School Board held its regular business meeting on Monday, April 27, 2026.
Meeting Highlights
- Heard a report about 2025 graduation rates, which surpassed the state average seven-year graduation rate. The Hispanic-Latino student population saw a notable 8% increase in the four-year graduation rate and a 5% increase in the seven-year graduation rate.
- Approved policy and regulation revisions including an update to Regulation 707.1 Transportation of Public School Students that officially increases the walk area distance from 0.5 mile to 1.0 mile for elementary and from 1.25 to 2.0 miles for secondary schools. These changes take effect in the 2026-27 school year and are part of the district’s Strategic Choices for a Sustainable Future budget reduction plan. Additional policy revision approvals include:
- Policy 407 Environmental Health and Safety Standards
- Policy 412 Expenses Reimbursement
- Accepted a grant from the City of Bloomington through the MN Department of Health’s Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) program to provide BPS staff with access to mental health and wellness supports.
- Heard special reports recognizing and celebrating several employee groups including teachers, school nurses, administrative professionals, and volunteers.
- Recognized the Bloomington high school robotics Team BJORG on winning the 2026 Granite City Regional in St. Cloud. This is the team’s first regional competition victory since 2009.
