The School Board held its regular business meeting on Monday, June 22, 2026.
Meeting Highlights
- The School Board approved the budget for the 2026-27 school year.
- The School Board presented its self-evaluation on its Strategic Plan-related goals for the 2025-26 school year. The School Board rated itself as effective/highly effective in supporting the equitable resources, future ready instruction, and family partnerships goals. The School Board rated itself as developing/effective in supporting the quality workforce and inclusive environments goals, noting it missed opportunities to review certain reports and data at a board level.
- The School Board presented its evaluation of superintendent Dr. Eric Melbye, assessing his performance across the five Strategic Plan goal areas for the 2025-26 school year. Using a 4-point scale, the School Board rated Dr. Melbye with scores of 3 and 4 across all five areas. The School Board expressed gratitude to Dr. Melbye for his resilient, empathetic leadership, keeping BPS steadily aligned with its Strategic Plan during a complex year.
- The School Board heard a report about the Grow Your Own grant program, which has helped 17 candidates of diverse backgrounds go back to college to earn a teaching license since the program began in 2022. This year the district celebrated its first program participant graduating with a teaching degree. With two years left in the grant, the final cohort of candidates was interviewed this spring.
- The School Board approved a contract for Arux, a new registration and payment platform for Community Education and early childhood programs. The district is transitioning to this new platform because the current Eleyo platform is getting sunsetted.
