Bloomington Public Schools is seeking elementary literacy and math tutors through the AmeriCorps programs Minnesota Reading Corps and Minnesota Math Corps, which provide the district with full- and part-time tutors.

In pre-K programs, literacy tutors help children ages 3-5 develop early reading skills in preparation for kindergarten and help ensure they are on track to read by the end of third grade. Elementary tutors help students become successful readers by implementing research-based literacy strategies.

Math tutors work with pairs of students in grades 4-8 using evidence-based math interventions to help students make gains in math.

Full-time literacy tutors must commit to 10 months of service beginning in August 2020. Tutors will receive training in instruction methods and earn a living allowance, as well as up to $4,266 to pay for school or student loans. Part-time positions are also available.
