State visual arts exhibit showcases Jefferson and Kennedy talent

Sculptures, ceramics, drawings and digital artwork by Jefferson and Kennedy high school students stand among the best student art in the state. The pieces were displayed at Perpich Center for Arts Education for the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Visual Arts Exhibition on May 11.

Synnove Erickson, Delaney Mundt, Grace Goodin, Olive Burres and Emma Obada (Jefferson), and Paige Cooper and Michelle Sarpong (Kennedy), were invited to the state exhibition after winning Judges Spotlight awards at the section competition for their outstanding use of materials, artistic voice and originality.

The pieces earned Superior awards, along with works by Jefferson’s Indira Wobbema, Makien Wenge, Renee Peacha, and Shelby Rhumann, and Kennedy’s Latasha Carter, Jackie Lopez Ruiz, Yosselin Flores Avelar, Giselle Alamilla Dominguez, Camila Pineda Ruiz, Jahydi Sanchez Pascual, Hope Laaksonen, Nora Rikansrud and Avishai Rodriguez Barreto.

Excellence awards were presented to Sam DeToffol, Bella Edwards, Kae Eull, Sage Stirratt, Wenge and Mundt (Jefferson); and Lidiya Kukuk, Rikansrud, Zoe Brafdord-Johnson, Alyson Vang, Amanda Hallet, Tatum Dang and Tobi Scott (Kennedy).
