Psychological Services

Psychological services are available to all students and in all buildings of the Bloomington Public Schools. The extent of those services is dependent on the primary needs of the building and the amount of psychological time allocated to that building. Most services are provided to students who have been identified with special needs or are considered to be “high risk” for such services.

The role of the school psychologist is quite varied and usually includes:
  • Assessments and Reassessments to determine eligibility for special education programs.
  • Consultation with school personnel regarding interventions and needs of students.
  • Individual and group counseling (short term).
  • Crisis intervention.
  • Consultation with parents and families to explore resources.
  • In-service training.
  • Supervision of intern school psychologists.
  • Response to Intervention (RTI) team membership.
