Bloomington students recognized in state art show

Students at Jefferson and Kennedy high schools and Olson Middle School earned high marks in this year’s Minnesota Scholastic Art Competition.

The top honor of Gold Key was awarded to Jefferson’s Kelsey Johnson and Kennedy’s Johanna Engebretson and Derek Flanagan.

Gold Key entries will be on display at the University of Minnesota’s Regis Center for the Arts West Gallery from Jan. 30-Feb. 17 and qualify for the National Scholastic Art Competition.

Elizabeth River-Soto and James St. George-Schreder (Kennedy) received Silver Keys for their works.

Students receiving honorable mention include Kennedy’s Sophia Alvarado, Makenzie Booth, Renee Castro and Marci Schubbe; Jefferson’s Jaclyn Crain, Riley De Vries, Haley Pinette and Sam Wallace; and Olson Middle School’s Elvira Obada.
