Jefferson, Kennedy high schools name Athena Award winners

Jefferson and Kennedy high schools have announced Rachel Graff and Julia Monson respectively as this year’s Athena Award winners.
The Athena Award is presented each year to outstanding senior female athletes from schools across the metro area. Award winners will be honored at the Minneapolis Athena Banquet May 4.
Graff participates in lacrosse at Jefferson and has been named an All-American, USA Today All-State First Team member, three-time all-conference player and two-time MVP, and has served as a team captain for three years. Graff is also a captain of the Jaguars hockey team and was named all-conference for the 2016-17 season. Graff plans to attend Columbia University and play Division I lacrosse next year.
Monson is a member of the Kennedy lacrosse team and has been named an all-state second team member and a five-time all-conference pick. She scored the most goals in the state (88) in 2017 and was named team MVP for two seasons and has been a team captain for three. She participates in soccer and is a three-time all-conference pick, MVP and three-season team captain. Monson plans to attend Concordia University - St. Paul and play Division II lacrosse next year.
