Effective Tuesday, July 16, all Summer SLAM classes and programs will be moved from Olson Middle School to Jefferson High School for the remainder of the summer schedule. For those who are registered, Extended Care will also be moved to Jefferson.

Jefferson is located two blocks east of Olson at 4001 W. 102nd St. Please enter through Door #1, the school’s main entrance.

District to host school board candidate informational meeting

An informational meeting for persons interested in running for the Bloomington School Board is Tuesday, June 18, from 7-8 p.m. at the Educational Services Center, 1350 W 106th St. (Room 601).

Meeting participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of a school board member in governing Bloomington Public Schools and fulfilling its vision and mission. Other agenda items will include how the school board operates, its committees and organizations, and the process for filing to run for the board. The meeting will be hosted by members of the School Board’s Community Engagement Committee.

The terms of three school board seats currently held by Maureen Bartolotta, Dick Bergstrom and Nelly Korman expire on Jan. 6, 2020. The school board election is Nov. 5, 2019.

School board filing dates are July 30-Aug. 13. Filings will be accepted Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and up to 5 p.m. on the last day of filing. The filing fee is $2.
