Northwest Area Jaycees donation helps cover student lunch debt

Northwest Area Jaycees of Maple Grove made a $10,000 donation to Bloomington Public Schools to help pay off negative student meal account balances.

The Jaycees coordinate charitable gaming at Poor Richard’s in Bloomington and will host a BINGO session at 3 p.m. Aug. 25 to raise additional funds to help reduce negative balances in student meal accounts.

Bloomington Public Schools Food Services receives additional financial assistance from the Education Foundation of Bloomington (EFB) program Children’s Food for Thought. EFB provides funds for students with negative meal accounts and families who do not qualify for free or reduced-price lunches due to hardship or temporary job loss.
