Bloomington students earn honors in statewide art competition

Students at Jefferson and Kennedy high schools and Oak Grove Middle School earned high marks in this year’s Minnesota Scholastic Art Competition.
Students earning the top honor of Gold Key include Kennedy’s Hannah Butala, Steven Chand, Clara Johnson, Ava Katz, Phoebe Sinner and Mae Yurecko; Jefferson’s Kelsey Johnson, Samantha Ouellette and Sam Wallace; and Oak Grove’s Synnove Erickson.
Gold Key entries were on display at the University of Minnesota Regis Center for the Arts West Gallery and qualify for the National Scholastic Art Competition.
Students receiving Silver Keys for their works include Kennedy’s Julia Ohm, Ally Palmquist and Phoebe Sinner; Jefferson’s Kelsey Johnson and Serena Ben-Avraham; and Oak Grove’s Michelle Sarpong.
Students receiving honorable mention for their works include Kennedy’s Hannah Butala, Dulce Gomez, Ava Katz, Ally Palmquist, Joy Quach and Jessie Thomson; and Jefferson’s Serena Ben-Avraham, Kelsey Johnson, Samantha Ouellette and Sam Wallace.
