Jefferson, Kennedy high schools name Athena Award winners

Jefferson and Kennedy high schools have announced Megan Narveson and Maya Chesky respectively as this year’s Athena Award winners.

The Athena Award is presented each year to outstanding senior female athletes from schools across the metro area. Award winners will be honored at the Minneapolis Athena Banquet May 8.

Narveson participates in cross country, nordic skiing and track. She is a four-time all-conference selection, two-time state qualifier and two-time team captain in cross country, and a two-time all-conference honorable mention in nordic. Track honors include all-conference honorable mention, 1600m section champ and state qualifier in 2019. She has served as team captain for nordic and track her senior year. Narveson plans to attend Minnesota State University, Mankato and run cross country and track.

Chesky participates in lacrosse, basketball and soccer. She is a three-time all-conference selection and was named all section in 2019 in lacrosse. She is a two-time captain in lacrosse. Chesky plans to attend Upper Iowa University, and earned an NCAA scholarship to play Division II lacrosse.
