Bloomington Public Schools will host its 12th Annual District-wide Food Drive March 16-20. All food and cash donations will be donated to VEAP, a Bloomington non-profit agency serving low-income families.

Last year, food and cash donations totaled 63,458 pounds of food. The goal this year is 60,000 pounds.

Coordinated by the School Board’s Youth Leadership Council and Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) Council, the annual event has collected more than 539,000 pounds since its inception in 2009.

The school collecting the most pounds (food and cash combined) earns the coveted We Believe Alliance Food Drive Donation traveling trophy.

VEAP serves low-income individuals and families in Bloomington, Edina, Richfield, and South Minneapolis. The organization's food pantry at 9600 Aldrich Ave. in Bloomington, serves more than 8,000 people each month, making it the largest single-site food shelf in Minnesota.
