School Board contracts with MSBA on superintendent search

Published on Apr 02, 2021

The Bloomington School Board approved last evening a contract with the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) to assist in a modified search process to fill the Superintendent of Schools position.

Superintendent Les Fujitake announced last month that he would not seek an extension of his current three-year contract, which expires June 30, 2021.

The modified search will include a job posting for two weeks beginning Monday, April 5. Interested candidates are required to submit a cover letter, resume and letters of reference.

The school board plans to meet with MSBA at a special meeting on Wednesday, April 7 to develop a search timeline, discuss and design stakeholder feedback, and determine the interview process.

MSBA will conduct a community and district staff online qualifications survey, facilitate stakeholder interview sessions with potential candidate(s), and summarize the stakeholder input from the survey and interview sessions for the Board.

The MSBA search services contract will not exceed $4,800. The school board is targeting mid-May to complete the process
