The Bloomington School Board has selected two finalists to interview for the school district’s superintendent vacancy. The finalists were chosen from a pool of seven applicants and selected based on hiring criteria established by the Board, and feedback from 1,077 stakeholder survey responses.

The interviewees are:

  • Dr. Brian Zambreno, Associate Superintendent, Minneapolis Public Schools
  • Dr. Eric Melbye, Associate Superintendent, Anoka-Hennepin Public Schools

The school board has scheduled interviews for the finalists beginning at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5. A representative group of stakeholders - employees, parents, students and community leaders - will also meet with the finalists on Tuesday, May 4 to provide input to the school board to help inform the board’s hiring decision.

All finalist interviews with the school board will be conducted via Google Meet and live streamed by BEC-TV.

Superintendent Les Fujitake announced in March that he would not seek an extension of his current three-year contract, which expires June 30, 2021.
