Les Miserables

Jefferson Theatre Company presents its spring musical “Les Misérables” April 20-23 and April 27-30 in the Jefferson High School auditorium, 4001 W. 102nd St.

One of the world’s most iconic and longest-running Broadway musicals, Les Misérables - School Edition was adapted for students and tells the story of Jean Valjean, a former convict who spends a lifetime seeking redemption. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France and the aftermath of the French Revolution, this timeless story of intertwined destinies reveals the power of compassion and the quiet evil of indifference to human suffering.

A theme in Les Misérables is hunger. To that end, the Jefferson Theatre Company is welcoming audience members to bring non-perishable food items to donate to VEAP.

The show features 60 high school and elementary students as cast and crew under the direction of Jamie Schmidt, Gaby Schmit and Laura Schmit, with sets and lighting design by Roger Skophammer and costumes by Laurie Clements

Showtimes are Thursdays through Saturdays, April 20-22; 27-29 at 7 p.m. and Sundays, April 23 and 30 at 1 p.m. A special senior preview is on April 19 at 3 p.m. with tickets at $5. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students, and are available at showtix4u.com/event-details/72401 or at the door one hour prior to each performance.
