I have been a Social Studies teacher for Bloomington Schools since 1999, when I became a student teacher at Kennedy High School. Following student teaching, I was hired full-time at Kennedy and taught U.S. History (at the regular, skills and AP levels), U.S. Government, Civics, and Contemporary Issues. I taught at Kennedy for nine years and was hired as the Secondary District Instructional Mentor in 2009. I mentored new teachers in all five secondary buildings for three years. While mentoring, I fell in love with middle school. I am very excited to be starting my 8th year teaching at Olson! I love it here!
I received my Bachelor's Degree, in Social Studies, from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1999. I have also acted as a consultant for their Social Studies program. I earned my Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary's University of Winona, in 2004.
Outside of teaching, one of my greatest passions is my family. I am married to a State Trooper (buckle up!) who is also a true Vikings fan. We have two beautiful children. My daughter is 14 years old (9th grade) and my son is 10 years old (5th grade). We are on the go! I love spending time with my family! I enjoy watching my kids play soccer, basketball, and mountain bike, as well as enjoyng photography, exploring the world around me, traveling, spending time outstide (especially on the boat), and I love to read!
