Meet the Principal
Welcome, Rocket Families!
I'm very excited to join the Ridgeview community! Becoming a new principal during a pandemic is certainly a challenge, but I want you all to know that I'm looking forward to partnering with you to make this a positive school year despite the uncertainties. Safety is always our first priority for students, staff and families and we will do our best at Ridgeview to take necessary health and safety measures and precautions.
I'm coming to Ridgeview from Minneapolis where I was most recently the assistant principal at Armatage Montessori school. Prior to that I served in a variety of leadership roles at the district level focused on literacy and curriculum and instruction. One of my passions as an instructional leader is literacy; I was a literacy coach at Seward Montessori which was one of my favorite roles! I started my career as a first grade teacher and Reading Recovery intervention teacher, which hooked me on the importance of early literacy interventions and being a creative and flexible teacher.
Throughout my career, I have always maintained a strong focus on social emotional learning and equity. One of my core values as an educator is that all children should have the opportunity to be seen, heard and valued as unique individuals. I look forward to getting to know students, staff and families.
On a personal note, I have two children who attend Richfield Public Schools, where our family lives. Jack is going to be an 8th grader and Emily will be a sophomore this coming school year. They are both athletes, and when I'm not at Ridgeview, I'm likely cheering on my own children at the swimming pool, basketball courts or baseball field! I also have two older step children, Claire, who is a graduate student at Vanderbilt, and Taylor, who has been a firefighter out west, but is now back in the Twin Cities! My husband Lou is a writer and works from home; he and I take turns shuttling Emily and Jack from event to event!
I will be in communication with all of you as we get closer to the start of school this fall. It's going to be a challenge, but we are all in this together!
Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to meet me virtually or in person!
