Type III School Bus Program

Now Hiring Bus Drivers and Bus Assistants

All Type III drivers must be trained and currently certified in the use and safe operation of the Bloomington Public Schools Type III vehicles (vans).

Certification Instructions for Type III Bus Program

  1. Print and read:  How to get certified
  2. Print, fill out completely and submit the driver application to Transportation.

Training Information

All driver applications must be completely filled out before approval and training. Classroom and behind-the-wheel training usually takes about two hours.

Training Times

  • Regular school days
    • By appointment only
    • Monday - Friday, 9:45 to 11:45 a.m.
       
  • Other Transportation work days (school breaks, conference/workshop days, summer)
    • By appointment only
    • During regular district hours

Van Forms

The current pre-trip calendar must be kept in van. Please send all pre-trip logs and calendars to Stephanie Raskin at Transportation for permanent record keeping.

Please report monthly mileage to the Fleet Coordinator tgut@isd271.org or Lead Mechanic cnaumann@isd271.org

Actual seating capacity is limited to the number of properly working seat belts. Type III school buses must never exceed 10 passengers, including the driver.
