Where Bright Futures Begin
Starting kindergarten is a big step — and Bloomington is ready to walk it with you. If your child turns 5 on or before September 1, they’re eligible to start kindergarten that fall.
At Bloomington Public Schools, your child will be welcomed into a safe, caring and joyful classroom, guided by dedicated educators who nurture curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning from day one. Whether it’s your child’s first time in a school building or they’re graduating from preschool, we’re here to help make their start amazing — and their future bright.
Why Families Choose Bloomington
- Proven Excellence
Fifteen of our schools have earned National Blue Ribbon or MN School of Excellence recognition. High-quality teaching, small class sizes, and personalized attention help every child thrive — and it starts in kindergarten.
- One-of-a-Kind Opportunities
From Minnesota’s only Artful Learning elementary (Hillcrest Community School) to Computer Science Immersion starting in kindergarten, Bloomington offers experiences you won’t find anywhere else.
- Whole-Child Growth
Reading, math, and science are just the beginning. We focus on social-emotional learning, creative exploration, and building friendships that last. Our kindergartners don’t just learn, they love school!
- Welcoming & Inclusive Community
We are proudly diverse and deeply connected. Every child is celebrated here and every family belongs.
- Ready for What’s Next
From preschool to kindergarten to graduation, your child’s journey is supported every step of the way. Our early learning opportunities, gifted and talented programs, and career-ready options make Bloomington the right choice now — and for the future.
