Youth Enrichment
Bloomington Community Education Youth Enrichment offers a variety of summer, school year, and evening enrichment, education and recreation opportunities for children of all ages.
Classes are available on an on-going basis at a variety of school locations throughout the school district in the areas of:
- creative, visual, and performing arts
- self-reliance and esteem building
- academic and recreational enrichment
- self-defense (including kung-fu and karate)
- recreational and educational sports

Summer of Laughs, Adventures, and More (SLAM) programs bring together a diverse list of enrichment opportunities over the summer for students entering grades K-8. The program is fee-based with a catalog that is sent home each spring.
SLAM camps are scheduled as four-day camps and are offered as a morning or afternoon option or a full-day option with a supervised lunch. All camps will be held at Valley View Middle School for summer 2026. Dates are June 15 - Aug. 14, 2026. (closed June 19 and June 29-July 3)
Online registration for 2026 SLAM Camps will open February 18 at 7:30 a.m.

Summer Galaxy is a program for students entering 7th-8th grade in fall 2026. Students will be empowered to work together and serve others in the community through service learning projects, recreation, arts and crafts and other daily activities including field trips.
- Program dates/times are June 15 - Aug. 7 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., (closed June 19 and June 29-July 3)

We believe everyone in Bloomington should have the opportunity to learn and grow through our Community Education programs. That's why we're delighted to offer fee assistance for Youth and Adult Enrichment classes, as well as Swim Lessons.
Who Qualifies?
Bloomington Residents: If you call Bloomington home, you're eligible! (Must have a Bloomington home address)
Bloomington Public School Youth: If your child is enrolled in Bloomington Public Schools and qualifies for the Educational Benefits Program (formerly Free and Reduced-Price Meals), they're eligible. You can find more details here: https://bit.ly/4idmhXd
Adults Experiencing Financial Hardship: We understand that sometimes finances can be challenging. If you're an adult facing financial hardship, you may qualify for assistance. Verification may be required. Please follow this link for more information: https://bit.ly/4hfgW04
Please Note: Fee assistance does not apply to Driver's Education fees or private swim or music lessons.
What Does Fee Assistance Offer?
We're happy to provide a 50% discount on the cost of eligible courses. Maximum assistance amounts apply per fiscal year (June 30, 2024 - July 1, 2025):
Youth Classes and Camps: Maximum of $200
Adult Classes: Maximum of $100
Swim Lessons: Maximum of $100

- Cancellations that are customer-initiated must be received within five or more business days in order to qualify for a full refund, minus a $10 processing fee, per person, for each class cancelled.
- Cancellations made less than 5 business days prior to the start of the class will not be eligible for a refund.
- There are no refunds issued after the class has begun.
- Community Education reserves the right to cancel a class that does not meet the minimum enrollment.
- Refunds are not available due to inclement weather, but we do our best to provide a make up whenever possible.
