The Community Relations Office provides leadership in communications and community engagement that support Bloomington Public Schools’ strategic plan and its schools, staff and students.
We are committed to fostering effective two-way communications with input and feedback from both internal and external audiences. We work to establish positive relationships with parents and families, business leaders and community to build support for public education. We believe meaningful public engagement encourages community involvement in education that benefits children and increases student achievement.

What We Do
The Community Relations Office tells the story of Bloomington Public Schools by sharing news about student and staff accomplishments, programs in our classrooms, promoting performances, and more. We do this through news articles, newsletters, photography, video production, graphic design, and social media. We provide strategic communications for the district, including district updates and communications in emergencies and when school is impacted by weather. Our office manages information on the district website and helps manage school websites. We support the marketing and branding needs of schools and the district.
The Community Relations Office gave a presentation to the School Board on August 26, 2024 detailing the vital role the department plays in the school district.
