Bloomington students receive national recognition
Kennedy juniors Shureym Dalmar and Valentine Onchonga along with Jefferson senior Mitchelle Kennedy earned the National African American Recognition Award for their academic achievements. The awards are used by colleges to identify academically competitive underrepresented students.
Dalmar, Kennedy and Onchonga were acknowledged by the College Board National Recognition program, which grants underrepresented students an academic honor as they complete college and scholarship applications.
For award eligibility, students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and excel on the PSAT/NMSQT, or earn a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP Exams; identify as an African American or Black, Hispanic American or Latinx, Indigenous, or attend school in a rural area or small town.
