Bloomington Public Schools presents ‘The Little Mermaid’

Bloomington Public Schools presents its summer community musical ‘The Little Mermaid’ July 26-30 at Kennedy High School, 9701 Nicollet Ave.

The Little Mermaid is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. Ariel longs to find out more about the world above the sea. While visiting the surface she falls for the dashing Prince Eric. Ariel makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life in jeopardy.

The production features a cast and crew of around 70 students in grades 6-12, including recently graduated seniors. The musical is directed by Laura Schmit, with musical direction by Jamie Schmidt and costumes by Laurie Clements. The artistic team includes several alumni including Roger Skophammer (JHS ‘78) set design, Tyler Eliason (KHS ‘13) assistant director, Gaby Schmit (JHS ‘13) lighting design, Eme Stenbeck (JHS ‘16) assistant technical director, Emily Morse (KHS ‘17) choreography and Megan Borgerding (JHS ‘17) assistant costumer.

Showtimes and ticket prices:

  • July 26 at 10 a.m. - Preschool and senior preview show. Tickets $5.
  • July 27-28 at 7 p.m. and July 29-30 at 3 p.m. Tickets $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students.
