Amanda Tveitbakk is the new assistant principal of Valley View Elementary School, effective July 1. Tveitbakk replaces current dean of students Elizabeth Plasynski, who was selected last month to become the new Indian Mounds Elementary School principal.

Ms. Tveitbakk served the past year as Dean of Students at Indian Mounds. She has been employed by Bloomington Public Schools since 2012 as a first grade teacher at Washburn Elementary School for six years and instructional Peer Coach for four years. Prior to coming to Bloomington, Tveitbakk taught for seven years in St. Paul Public Schools.

Ms. Tveitbakk holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from the University of Minnesota, and an educational specialist degree and K-12 administrative license from the University of St. Thomas.

“We are thrilled Amanda Tveitbakk is moving into a leadership role in the district. She brings a strong record of academic experience and working with students and families,” said Dr. Jenna Mitchler, assistant superintendent.
