Bloomington Transition Center earns state recognition
Bloomington Transition Center (BTC) was recognized by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) for successfully implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
PBIS is a framework for meeting the social, emotional and behavioral needs of students, promoting positive behavior, and improving student outcomes. BTC is among 87 schools recognized in Minnesota.
BTC is a Bloomington Public Schools program providing services for students aged 18-21 who benefit from special education services after they've completed high school and helps them demonstrate independence in community-based settings.
“We are incredibly proud of the partnership between our students and staff at BTC. For the fourth year in a row they have succeeded in teaching, modeling and acknowledging positive social, emotional and behavioral skills at a high level,” said executive director of student services, Jennifer McIntyre.
BTC will be honored by MDE Commissioner Willie Jett during the PBIS Summer Institute and Recognition Ceremony June 14-15.
