Bloomington students named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists

Jefferson seniors John Kerwin and Paul Wakeham are semifinalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program competition. The students are candidates for a merit scholarship. Finalists will be named in February 2024.

Last year, more than 1.3 million high school juniors entered the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of semifinalists includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.

Seven Bloomington students earned National Merit Commended Student status, recognizing these students for outstanding academic promise. Commended Students are Jefferson’s Andrew Hanson, Carson Krenz, Kailey Tan and Timothy Wakeham along with Kennedy’s Amberly Colvin, Sidney Rezac and Andrew Tran.
